Nerve related: Pain in foot extending to ankle may be nerve related. You can use ice, rest and elevation with OTC pain meds to relieve pain. If no relief is noted in 2-3 days, pl get checked with your doctor for imaging studies for proper diagnosis and treatment. Good luck

Rest it, Rest it.: Uh oh. Taking a long walk. Pain after removing a supporting shoe. Sharp pain in outer region of foot, possibly the 5th metatarsal region. Pain when walking with additional pain to ankle. Sounds like a perfect set up for a stress fracture. Begin the Rice protocol. Follow up with specialist to see if you need any additional care. Possibly, need a low cam walker to dissipate the energy from standing
