A member asked:

I have been experiencing chronic bilateral leg pain (just below the knee and extending down several inches) for a year. extensive testing has failed to identify a cause. i am wondering if this is possibly an adr from taking lisinopril (20mg) for 21/2 year

Rx vacation?: Although unusual, it would not surprise me if it was your medication. Check with your doctor to be sure a brief 'vacation' from the lisinopril would be safe. A 2 wk break should tell you if it is the culprit.

Suppose that could: be possible, as any adverse effect could at some point be attributed to a medication, even if there are few or no previous reports. Joint pain has been reported in the past. The muscle cramping is more likely to occur from statins (cholesterol medicines), hydrochlorothiazides or other diuretics, some proton pump inhibitors which are acid relievers, and a few other blood pressure pills.
