Yes: Several questions are important: 1) how long has it been there? 2) is it getting larger? As a general rule, any new lesion that has been there longer than 10 days should be evaluated. Hope this helps.

Black spot: Anything that seems out of the norm and that you do not have an explanation for should be checked. The tongue, especially lateral or floor can be signs of more severe conditions. See a specialist in oral pathology, oral surgeon eg. It's better to be told that you bit your tongue and go home, then to be told i wish you came in 3 months ago. It could be just a blood vessel, or more. Make an appt.
