Hemrrhoids: Doctor is likely to do an external inspection and may wish to do a digital rectal exam. What is recommended is largely up to your presentation (like rectal bleeding, etc)

Rectal exam: We start with a rectal exam to evaluate hemorrhoids and make sure they're not overly swollen. Based on the findings, you may try conservative therapy which i can explain in more detail separately, or you may benefit from hemorrhoidal banding.
