I have severe pain on both sides of my back, no matter if i'm sitting, standing etc. the pain is consistent on both sides. i'm a type 1 diabetic.

Pain & diabetes: Severe pain, that lasts more than a few hours is always serious, especially so in a Type I diabetic. Call your doc or go to an ER, if this is new. If you have been checked thoroughly and are no better, get re-checked and ask for a referral to a neurologist or other specialist to help treat this.
