Odd wording: The material in the TdaP is not alive and cannot give anybody whooping cough. An adult who has not received a whooping cough booster within the past 10 years has the potential to get it if exposed (immunity has weakened).Adults can get a terrible chronic cough (3+months) but are not terribly sick from it. The main worry comes if they pass it to a small infant who can die from it.
