Most likely not DVT: The fact that you are young, you have not described prior History of DVT, and you are not complaining about pain on the more swollen side, and the legs are not always swollen, makes the possibility of DVT unlikely. Your cardiac output is increased dramatically at 36 weeks of pregnancy and this leads to swelling. Keep you salt diet in control.

Pregnant and swollen: What you describe does not sound like DVT but the best test to prove that there is or is not a DVT would be a venous duplex ultrasound. This is easy to do, noninvasive and will not injure the baby in any way.
