Persistent BV...: ...or recurrence are quite common, very frustrating. Consistent condom use for a few weeks sometimes helps. BV is not necessarily an STD, but sex contributes. (But treating partners doesn't help.) Preventive treatment with vaginal metronidazole (MetroGel®) or boric acid vaginal capsules often can help. If your doc is unfamiliar with these, find a gyn with interest in infectious diseases. Gd luck!
