A member asked:

My mother had bone marow biopsy done on friday. today i noticed a large bruise behind her knee. is this alarming?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

It is due to bleedin: It is not uncommon to have a small bruise after the bone marrow test which is often done with a large bore needle. Usually it stops with immediate pressure applied after the procedure. But if it has showed up in your leg,, that indicates more extensive bleeding. So you must inform your doctor who did the procedure. Make sure that your Platelet count is Ok and your Hemoglobin(Hb) has not dropped
