Many variables: A small filling well done should last many many years But if you bite on hard things or hard foods it may shorten its life If you brush and floss regularly the area won't decay If it breaks you may need a crown to cover the whole tooth

Filling longevity: I have seen fillings last for from months to 35 years. It depends upon many factors including but not limited to the size and position of the filling on the tooth, the quality of the materials used and the expertise of the dentist. Some of the other factors include whether or not you are a bruxer and what/how you eat.
