Hormones; pregnancy: PMS is a hormonal event related to the earlier event of an egg ripening and the uterus getting ready for a pregnancy. Periods and PMS occur when that process is reversing. It may be that you never released an egg. PMS or its absence may also be related to other medical conditions, such as thyroid. BUT, pregnancies can happen with all kinds of contraception, no matter how careful you are.
