Irregular period: Pregnancy is not only cause for delay. It however must be ruled out first to avoid costly and maybe unnecessary work up. Your test for pregnancy may be false negative if you checked yourself early. Reliable result can be obtained only 4 to 6 weeks after conception (unprotected sex) no matter what test packing say. See your GYN or PMD for further advice/work up if delay persist beyond 6-8 weeks.

Wait and see: You may be pregnant but will need to wait. I would wait another week and recheck for the pregnancy test. Are you anxious? Have you ever had a late period? Have you started an new birth control method such as depoprovera? If nothing happens in another week go see your doctor. Best wishes.

May not be: pregnant. At 18 years of age your period can be late occasionally without pregnancy. If it does not come in a week, a blood test will be more accurate and a visit to your doctor would be indicated if your period does not come after another month.
