Is there any research that is getting close to figuring out the cause of fibromyalgia and a suitable treatment?

No: At the moment there are lots of theories and treatments should be multi-modal but if your asking is there one known cause followed by one known pill to cure it like curing a UTI or treating diabetes, the answer is no.
