I went to the doctor yesterday and he prescribed 10mg flexerill for my broken rib and sleep problems. i took 10mg and saw no affect whatsoever. i'm 18, 134 pounds and 5'7. is it okay to up my dose to 20mg? i'm very immune to large doses of medicine

No : Flexeril is brand name of generic Cyclobenzaprin.It is a muscle relaxant and and can help with musculoskeletal pain by relaxing the muscle.The usual dose is 10 mgm three times a day and does have some sedation as side effect.It is not a good analgesic and often prescribed with some pain medicine .Do not increase the dose but you may take over the counter pain meds like Tylenol (acetaminophen) or Ibuprofen.

Ask Your Physician: The recommended once-daily cyclobenzaprine extended release dose is 30 mg or cyclobenzaprine immediate release 10 mg three times daily. Please ask your physician before starting any treatment or medication adjustment.

Flexeril (cyclobenzaprine hcl) is neither: ...a pain medication or a sleeping pill. It can cause sedation but, at usual doses, isn't very effective for insomnia. It reduces muscle pain indirectly by relaxing tight muscles, unlike narcotics which decrease pain perception If neither your insomnia nor you pain are caused by muscle tension, than Flexeril (cyclobenzaprine hcl) won't have much effect on either. Contact your doctor if the Flexeral isn't helping.
