Yes.: It is a myth that people cannot move a broken finger or thumb. Most muscles required to love your fingers are in your forearm, and they flex/extend the fingers by using tendons as pulleys. These tendons will still pull and move a broken bone...it just hurts. Some types of thumb fractures require surgery for best outcomes. If you have a lot of bruising, swelling or pain you should get x-ray
