New moles after 40: A mole after 40 needs to be watched or checked. One out of ten adults have an atypical mole...these can become CA sometimes. Not every atypical mole will be CA. Check for irregular borders, dark pigment, larder, and borders that fade into the surrounding skin. Have your dermatologist take a look....I always say if you don't like the looks of it or your worrying about it take if off.

Agreed. You can also have a punch biopsy done if you want a diagnosis which is slightly less aggressive than having it completely removed upfront.
