Andrenarche: The adrenal glands can begin producing more hormones that stimulate the odor producing glands in the underarms at 6. It is not the same as the onset of puberty (different hormones) that in girls would be marked by nipple fullness ,an increase in genital hair and increase in growth rate. These kids just need a bit of discussion on personal hygiene and use of deodorant.

This can be normal: or it could be a sign of early transition into puberty which can have effects on growth and adult height. I would see your family doctor or pediatrician and bring up your concer so they can do a thorough exam.
