What is robitussin (guaifenesin) plain syrup? what should i take during pregnancy.?

Don't use: Robitussin (guaifenesin) contains Guaifenesin which is an expectorant intended to help liquify mucus. It is Pregnancy Category C "Use with caution if benefits outweigh risks. Animal studies show risk and human studies not available or neither animal nor human studies done." There is little evidence that expectorants are really effective. Best advice to avoid all medication if possible, especially 1st trimester
