Hormonal imbalance: Plan B may alter your cycle. This is not of concern. If you do not wish to be pregnant, use contraception all the time, every time. You may consider implanted contraceptive, or IUD. Practice safe sex.

Unsure: Taking Plan B will often cause irregular bleeding. If you usually have regular periods, they should return to normal soon. Continue to use contraception and, if you get any pregnancy symptoms, do a pregnancy test. If you continue to have irregular bleeding for the next couple of months, it could be due to something else. Then see your provider.

Plan B side effect: The light bleeding you are experiencing is a side effect of the Plan B. Plan B alters the menstrual cycle. Check a home pregnancy test 3 weeks after date of unprotected sex to rule out pregnancy.
