A member asked:

Why are crash diets considered a terrible idea? what is the harm of carrying them out?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Balance: Our bodies thrive on balanced nutrition. Diets that severely restrict any of the major food groups can be tolerated for the short term, but can result in vitamin and mineral deficiencies over time. Whatever the diet, we still need supplies of protein, carbohydrates and fats.
