Be healthy: A scab comes off as soon as possible, when it's healed underneath. To encourage healing underneath, be sure there is good blood flow, which means never smoking or using any kind of nicotine (or anything else that decreases blood flow). Also, avoid diabetes, which means eating properly and doing exercise. Diabetes is bad for healing wounds. If a scab stays on "way too long", a doctor can evaluate.
