Tick, fly bites &...: Lyme disease is caused by a bacteria, borrelia burgdorferi & is commonly thought to be transmitted by deer ticks. However, half of those proven to have lyme don't recall being bitten by a tick (most likely were but did not notice). It is proven that lyme can be transmitted by biting flies & possibly by mosquitoes, fleas, spiders etc. It can be transmitted in utero to babies & possibly sexually.

Make: sure diagnosis is correct as many confuse results in Western Blot. Chronic symptoms could include non-infectious arthritis that could be treated similarly to RA.

Chronic Lyme: Be careful with this diagnosis. CD57 is a subset of lymphocytes called killer cells and is not specific for Borellia. Sometimes it correlates with disease activity with this disorder and sometimes it does not. It is not specific.
