I have extreme facial pain when i lightly touch the left side of my face. the pain travels through my jaw, behind my ear and to the lower portion of my head. why is this happening?

See a doctor: If you don't have weakness on that side of face then it could be an inflammation of the nerve on that side of face. It is called neuralgia. Please go and see a doctor or go to Urgent care right away. It needs to be aggressively treated.
