Not necessarily: Unless the cardiomyopathy is directly related to hypertensive heart disease.

Can be: Cardiomyopathies have several types and can cause multiple cardiac problems. They can be primary or secondary depending if the disease is part of another syndrome. New onset heart failure, syncope, dizziness, chest discomfort etc etc are all common features. You may have new murmur. You may benefit from echo, ekg, cardiac enzymes, cardiac cath etc etc. Blood pressure may or may not be elevated.
