Bad idea: If the klnopin is not being prescribed by a doctor who knows an elderly patient's condition it can be a bad idea and can create even more confusion. Get proper treatment for the UTI and if there are bad responses or confusion it woudl be wise to seek the advice of the treating doctor. Experimenting with mental state changes would be very unwise.

NO!: From your question i can only make one recommendation: make sure that this elderly person is being treated not only for his or her UTI but also that cognitive changes be addressed. Do not give Klonopin (clonazepam) or any other medication without instructions from this person's health care provider. While you wait for the help make sure this person is safe.
