A member asked:

If l had intercourse today but i am one month late for my period can i do the test? will the intercourse affect the results.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes. No.: A urine pregnancy test gives a reliable result 1 week after missing a period, which means one can test today (having missed a period by 4 weeks). If done sooner, a positive result is likely real, but a negative result may be due to testing too soon, and thus lead to a repeat test. If a woman gets her normal regular period, then she is not pregnant. Intercourse today doesn't affect today's results.
