Several: There are several, and the tests ordered depend on what your doctor suspects might be going on with you. One that's extremely important in people with depression is testing for any changes in the mthfr (methylene-tetra-hydro-folate (folic acid)-reductase) gene. Certain polymorphisms in that gene lead to problems making active folate (folic acid) from precursors. This can lead to treatment resistance in depression.
