A member asked:

How serious is anemia? and is it bad to have it at 16 years old?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Varies: Building blood requires that you have the building blocks to make red cells, or that you are not losing the ones you make. Our cells wear out in 90-100 days and must be recycled, dietary iron is the most common limiting "building block". Most folks at any age just need more iron in their diet to fix this. For most it is a minor issue. Some have rare or worrisome causes.Talk it over with your doc.
