Depends: Neuropathy refers that something being wrong with your nervous system. There are many forms that are temporary because they are caused by a virus or a bacteria of some sort. Neuropathy can also be caused by a genetic condition or some other pathology which is irreversible. Consult your pcp for more information on a specific type of neuropathy.

Cure..no Help..yes: There are many options to help with neuropathic pain. There is no clear cure. The b vitamins seem to help. Several newer prescribed medications (cymbalta, lyrica, (pregabalin) gralise, neurontin) certainly help. If you are diabetic, then keeping your blood sugar under control can help.

Not the way you mean: ×´Neuropathy" covers a vast amount if territory. The answer to your question could go on forever. The short answer is yes and no, meaning the "treatable" neuropathies are mostly treated by treating the underlying condition that caused the neuropathy, eg diabetes. Agents that act on the nerves themselves are limited mostly to steroids and certain vitamins. For more, see http://www.neuropathy.org.

No cure: There are many different types of neuropathy and for some types you can delay the progression, but there is usually no cure for neuropathies. Treatment consists of symptom control with medications. Rarely there are procedures or surgeries that can help.

Look for causes: Neuropathy is more of a symptom than a disease- the most important thing to do is to get a thorough workup including blood tests and (if indicated) electrical testing such as a nerve conduction study to determine what kind of neuropathy it is and what might be causing it. Depending on the cause, there may be a curative treatment in addition to the symptomatic ones.
