Dear Motivated: Keep up the motivation. To prevent diabetes start by going to the American Diabetes Association web site and start researching. Start taking notes. They have many links that will guide you on keeping a healthy lifestyle. Diet and exercise. Next see if there is gym or YMCA type organization in Tunis so that you can start working out. Good luck!

Opposing goals?: Diabetes especially type II is linked to obesity. Thus unless all you gain is muscle, the extra fat will make your body less responsive to insulin making you more at risk for diabetes. Be sure to do both aerobic exercise and weight training. Avoid too much carbohydrate.
