A member asked:

Got a cholecystectomy, but still have burning/hungry feeling before eating got tested for h.pylori came back negative what can it be??

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Gastroenterologist: Burning, hungry feeling relieved by eating can be a sign of a peptic ulcer which occurs in a large percentage of people and is often undiagnosed. A gastroenterologist is best qualified to evaluate, advise and treat you, or you could try an empiric trial of prilosec for a few weeks to see if symptoms resolve. Avoidance of alcohol, caffeine and nicotine is also advisable.
