Not best: Not effective unless used daily on the entire area for months to years. The better you suppress the acne, the less scar results. Scars are NOT a result of squeezing. This is not a first choice and costs $250 for a small tube. Your birth control and menstrual patterns are significant. Most women your age respond best to spironolactone pill at $16 for 3 months, not if pregnant.

Supplemental Rx: This is dapsone; it's not a good mainstay for acne treatment, and if you're having scarring, perhaps you're a candidate for isotretinoin. Alternatively, a protocol using topical benzoyl peroxide with an antibiotic and/or the oral contraceptive pill and/or spironolactone may be right for you. Or if benzoyl peroxide is too rough for you, topical retinoic acid with a systemic Rx may be just right.

For all areas: After cleaning your face and hands, rub a small thin layer for all the affected areas. This medication is generally for clearing up acne and may possibly reduce the likelihood of developing future acne scars, but it won’t help reduce the appearance of current scars.
