Conception occurs...: after ovulation, which, during a normal cycle, is on about the 14th day (counting day 1 as the first day of your last period (LMP)). If a woman has irregular cycles and missed periods or spotting in between, it is difficult to pinpoint ovulation and thus conception and "when you got pregnant". The best way to determine gestational age when LMP is not accurate is an early ultrasound.
