Diagnosed with fibromyalgia at 40. i don't have the typical sore muscles or pain- it just feels like yucky flu. is this consistent with fibromyalgia?

Tough question: Fibromyalgia (FMS) is a syndrome defined as non-restful sleep, severe fatigue, widespread tender muscles. However, the definition, including the tender points of muscles, was develope for research purposes. Despite what you read on the Internet, we have found no cause for FMS and thus no precise testing exists. I would get a second opinion from an internist before accepting the label of FMS.

Comments: Fibromyalgia is on occasion misdiagnosed, especially if symptoms are not closely correlated with signs. It is very worthwhile to make certain that you do not have something else, such as polymyalgia rheumatica, or an underlying chronic infection, such as Lyme. Pursue a second opinion.
