A member asked:

How long to wait to wear contact lenses after gonioscopy (or whatever the exam is called where ophtalmologist puts a glass lense on your numbed eye)?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Short time: The lens applied to your eye is on a gel which provides an optical link between the lens and the interior of your eye. The numbness usually disappears in 10 minutes at most and the normal tear flow will clean out the residual gel. So you can start to wear you contact lenses by the time the exam is completely over - probably 15 minutes after the gel aided exam.
