Maybe but prob not: Sounds like a boil or something similar, perhaps starting as folliculitis with an ingrown hair, espedcially if you shave the area. Staph is one possibility, but strep and many other bacteria also could be responsible. If it's quite large (more than 2 cm or 3/4 inch) best to see a doctor for advice and possible antibiotic treatment.
