Retained stone: This is s difficult question to answer, without a little more information, like when was the surgery, any complications? But it could be something as simple as scar tissue, which can cause sharp pains to a "retained" stone. The common bile duct is left when GB removed and you can get a stone there too. Dep on how bad the pain is and any other sx's this should be rechecked.
