I started effexor (venlafaxine) a couple weeks ago and am experiencing extremely dry eyes.optometrist said this could be a side effect.does this typically go away?

Probably: If the dryness and the start of the effexor (venlafaxine) are close in time, then this is a likely cause. Best always, to see a real doctor - an ophthalmologist - for any eye problem as optometrists are not medically trained to any significant degree.

Effexor (venlafaxine) side effects: Yes, you need relief from depression. It seems that antidepressant medications-Zoloft and Lexapro (escitalopram) have not helped. Effexor can cause dry eyes. Nausea and diarrhea are symptoms of anxiety affecting GI system for which you had endoscopy and Colonoscopy. See a Psychiatrist for Therapy for stresses of relationships, parenting, work and finances. Use Music, Breathing Relaxation, Visual Imagery, Yoga.
