Maybe: Sore throat could be an early symptom for a viral upper respiratory infection, which could lead to stuffy/runny nose, watery eyes, cough, headache, and general malaise. Sore throat could also be localized pharyngitis cause by either a virus or bacteria. Sore throat with swollen tonsils and absence of cough is often indicative of either strep throat or mono. Any primary care clinic can test.
