Sore throat: Congratulations on quitting smoking! It's unlikely that quitting smoking would lead to sore throat & painful swallowing, although this could be due to coincidental infection, possibly a result of smoking (takes a while for all badness attributable to smoking to dissipate). If you had a longer history of smoking, then we'd worry about cancer. Regardless, if pain persists, see your Family Doc & ENT.
