Yes and no: Yes it sounds like your wisdom tooth is impacted there and no these symptoms are not normal. Pain from impacted wisdom teeth could be caused by a number of things. In your case it sounds like you have pericoronitis of the impacted tooth. Don't chew on that side or area, rinse regularly with warm salt water, and make an appointment to see the dentist to have this evaluated.
