If thinking of having sex with an uninfected person, you have to talk about this and together decide how to have sex without transmitting your herpes. Talk before havng sex. Your herpes should stop with you.

Not always: New genital herpes due to HSV2 is most transmissible during the first few months, less likely after that. You can greatly reduce risk by consistent condom use and taking an anti-herpes drug (usually valacyclovir) daily. With these precautions, transmission is unlikely, but not zero. Tell all partners so they know the possibility. Transmission risk a lot lower if your GH is due to HSV1, not HSV2.
