Dust allergy: A/C is a good dehumidifier, which is what you need if you truly have dust mite airway allergy, your parents are protecting you from having colds, you can put the A/C on a moderate temperature just to make use of its dehumidifying property, later you need to consult an allergist if you have one in your area, good luck
