More swelling: If you simply stop breastfeeding, you will get engorged, then you will stop producing milk in a few days to a week. But why stop? If you keep feeding, the swelling is likely to go down as you both get more proficient. If there is redness and tenderness, see a doctor/midwife/lactation consultant to check for signs of infection. Human breastmilk continues to be the best food for human babies.
