8yr son fell on his knee hard. chunks of skin missing, x-rays show 0 broken. 1 wk. old & still swelling & stiff - possible soft tissue damage? tests?

Knee injury: it may be a normal course of healing for such a knee trauma but often X-ray are repeated in a week if still with significant symptoms as the first film may have not shown a fracture. I would get his knee reexamine and see if it is healing as expected
