Candida: Systemic antibiotics alter the bacterial composition of the vagina (yes bacteria live there normally). These bacteria help maintain the environment and prevent the colonization by harmful bacteria and fungi. Antibiotics can open the door to these and a most common one is candida, a yeast which is always ready to multiply in the vagina given a chance. There are good over the counter antifungals.
