Doesn't target calf: The initial phase of lesptospirosis has generalized myalgias due to septicemia. At this point it may resemble influenza except for presence of conjunctival suffusion in over 50% of cases, a sign not often found in other febrile illnesses. It may then spread to the central nervous system and cause kidney and liver failure. Mortality may be as high as 50%. Thanks for trusting HealthTap!
