Try treatments, help: 1st, NLD is more common in women & usually appears on the shin, so confirm the diagnosis with skin biopsy. 2nd, control your blood sugar to prevent more complications, though it will not help with the current lesions. Though exact cause is unknown, TNF-a inhibitors have worked in some cases. Research studies & I have had some success with long courses (90+) of treatment with hyperbaric oxygen.
