Rib hurts in specific spot on right side. noticed after playing a lot of golf. this is new and hurts only when i breath. pain is localized. what is it?

Strain or bruise: Ignore it. Will resolve in a few days. Costochondritis causes pain near the sternum. Serious causes of rib pain will make you short of breath, tender, coughing blood, etc. If not clearly less painful after a week, see a DR.

Rib Muscle Pull: Costalchondritis - an irritation of the small muscles between the ribs aggravated by deep breaths. Annoying but generally harmless. Drink lots of water and take Motrin with food if uncomfortable. Take a break from the golf swings for a week or so.
