Unlikely, if...: If an IUD is in place, it works to prevent pregnancy right away. Many things are possible in life, which means the question should not be "can a woman get pregnant", but rather "is it unlikely or likely that a woman will get pregnant". It is very unlikely that a woman with an IUD in place will get pregnant, even during her first month with the IUD, and even without a second form of birth control.
